Well, it’s been a month now since we were able to re-start, albeit in a fashion as they say!
With the guidelines changing so much, we have had to adapt the way we work quite a lot, especially on transport runs, and look very carefully at what services we can offer – but it looks like we’re getting there – eventually. Now Scotland and Wales have relaxed their restrictions even more it’s made it a little easier to try and help in those areas as well.
We have been able to get homechecks, transport runs and assessments up and running and from this week, we are trying our best to get our training programme underway again but this is, of course, slightly more difficult to arrange. Although we need to try and get as many homecheckers qualified as soon as we possibly can.
In such a short time we have already posted 1150 homechecks, 47 transport runs; and in our assessment group 33 assessments with another 28 follow-ups recovered, these had to be put on hold due to Covid-19. We’ve posted hundreds of messages on our Rescue Register group, Twitter and Instagram to help rescues with certain animals, not forgetting our Lost and Found and Foster Register groups – phew.
The requests to join our groups is at an all-time high and keeping our Membership admins very busy!
As always, we cannot do it without our amazing admins and volunteers, plus, we have to say a big thank you to all the rescues who have continued to work alongside us during this very trying time for all of us – thanks everyone for your patience.
Here’s hoping that we might be able to get back to working full strength again soon but who knows when, as the goalposts seem to be moving daily! Take care everyone and keep safe 😊
