Assessments

This side of the Charity has grown so much since January 2015, we needed to have our own group as it’s so busy! Our main purpose is to help rescues when dogs are being surrendered by their owners because they can no longer keep them for a variety of reasons. We visit them in their home (usually) to assess their general behaviour, and so helping to ensure they can be safely taken into rescue and hopefully found a loving new home. We may, from time-to-time be asked to assess a dog in kennels or in a temporary foster placement.

Our assessors register has grown from just over 300 assessors to a staggering 810 experienced handlers; ranging from vet techs, groomers, dog walkers, hands-on rescue workers, hydro-therapists, trainers, behaviourists etc. Rescue requests cover all spectrums of behaviour for dogs with no-known issues right up to those with bite history and many more serious habits.

Remember, all our Assessments Admins are volunteers themselves and work long hours – their dedication and experience in putting the right assessor together for the right rescue request, shows in the number of dogs we have helped go to new homes.

This can often be an emotional thing to do but is so rewarding, helping a dog go to a better life in many cases.

So, if you feel you may have the right experience, please visit our Facebook page and click on join. You will be welcomed by our Membership Admins and guided through the process. We look forward to hearing from you, as we need all the handlers we can get in certain areas.
