About The Animal Team
We have grown enormously from those early days in 2011 into a registered Charity with four groups (six including training and our Foster Register), with membership numbers in the region of 7,500+ and working alongside nearly 2000 UK and overseas rescues who are registered with us. In these years we have helped literally thousands of animals find their way into new homes.
Our homecheck and transport groups not only provide rescues with the ability to expand their rehoming areas, but our promptness in getting homechecks and transport runs covered, also means a quicker turnover of rescue spaces – this in turn enables more animals to be saved.
We offer training for new members who have not done homechecks before to ensure we are all doing them to the high standard we demand and the rescues expect of us.
In addition, we also carry-out assessments of dogs waiting to come into rescue who are being surrendered by their owners. We also assist pound pullers with transport – these are the people who work tirelessly pulling dogs from death row and finding them rescue spaces and we will often finance emergency boarding. It’s not just dogs … we have homechecked and transported all kinds of furries; including cats, horses, exotics, birds, rabbits, rats – even a pigeon and now we are pleased to say we have a pig rescue on-board!
Our Resources Group is often the place rescues go when they are struggling to find a home for a particular animal or if they need our support in other ways. We have lots of dogs and cats looking to be adopted in our photo and information galleries on our Facebook page, that members of the public can browse through. Our lost and found service has helped to reunite many pets and owners over the years.
Over the past four years we have helped hundreds of dogs with our Foster Register group offering them safe homes, until the rescues can find them new permanent families. Or we have often managed to take certain dogs under our care to rehome using our own resources.
We cover the whole of the UK with our fantastic volunteers – they are really amazing, loyal and dedicated to rescue work. They will drop everything for an emergency and tirelessly give their time for the animals who need them. Our admins, in all our groups, are a wonderful team of volunteers who also give their time, energy and commitment to come to the help of these animals, working very long hours every day.
We are also vocal about animal welfare and are currently developing a new group to explore and tackle legislations and rulings which are often very outdated.
No human is too young or too old to realise the wonderful world of rescue and volunteering. If you’re a rescue looking to give yourself a wider audience, then please feel free to join our groups as well. Please visit our Facebook groups listed on the Our Services pages to see what we do, then it’s very easy to ask to join and become an active member.
Be part of one of the fastest-growing and fastest-paced organisations in the rescue sector. We pride ourselves on what we do but we are always looking at ways we can improve and are working hard to maintain the high-level services and support we offer year on year.
Rescue is a 24-hour/365 days a year job and The Animal Team never closes, it’s our passion. We are always here to help in any way we can – our job is to protect any animal that comes via us and to try our best to ensure they get the safe, secure and loving homes they so deserve. Here’s to the next decade and the next … we take what we do very seriously and our commitment is unending – thus proving we are ‘the vital link between rescues and volunteers’.
